Ciao amici and Bambini families! My name’s Alejandra, and I'm very excited to share my story with all of you. I come from the town of Charata in northeast Argentina, and my life has been a wonderful blend of exploring different cultures, diving into the arts, and always striving for positive change.
The arts, especially theater and music, hold a special place in my heart. They’ve been constant sources of inspiration and relaxation, infusing everything I do with creativity and excitement. I’m always eager to learn and grow, and I would describe myself as highly motivated, empathetic, and constantly seeking new avenues for exploration.
My journey with language began young when I immersed myself in English studies. Intrigued by cultures, my dream of hosting a cultural exchange student came true with Marcia, my AFS sister from Wisconsin, who became part of our family in Argentina. Our bond drove me to explore the United States, where my time in Wisconsin made a lasting impact.
Driven by a passion for education, I followed my dream to become a Teacher of English as a Second Language in Rosario, Argentina – a city notable for being the birthplace of both Messi and Che Guevara . It was there that I discovered the enchanting world of theatre, adding depth to my commitment to learning.
My path continued to evolve as I spent 16 years as a Teacher of English in conventional institutions. However, it was in the beautiful city of Bariloche in Patagonia, Argentina, where I finally encountered alternative education philosophies that stole my heart.
In 2018, life's twists brought me back to the US, settling in vibrant Portland, Oregon. Parenthood shifted my perspective, fueling my determination to create a unique educational journey for my daughter. Being a mamá is my main role now, and I cherish every moment with my daughter. We love going on outdoor adventures, like hiking through the woods and exploring new places.
But 2020 changed everything. Destiny led us to lively Kansas City, Missouri, where I met a dear friend who introduced me to the transformative vision of Brianne Teevan- Bongiovanni. Her Reggio-inspired approach perfectly aligned with my beliefs about progressive and alternative education.
Beyond education, I'm a devoted Gong player, and my connection with these ancestral instruments is a significant part of who I am.
My path has been a symphony of cultures, passions, and educational philosophies. I'm thrilled to infuse my experiences into the magical tapestry of Bambini, fostering a lifelong love for learning, but also (and especially) embracing the opportunity to learn from my students. Just as every note in a melody contributes, so do the distinct stories and dreams that shape our shared educational voyage.
