Hola Bambini Family!

​

My name is Alessa, and this will be my 8th year at Bambini Creativi! I am originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, where all of our family still lives.

After high school, I spent a year in London living with an Italian family. I took care of their children, traveled, went to school, and earned my English certificates from Cambridge University. That experience also sparked my love for everything Italian!

I moved back home after that year and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Design. I also studied Italian, with the dream of finishing my degree and eventually pursuing a Master’s in Italy or Spain. Instead, I fell in love, got married, and moved to Kansas!

​

We spent three wonderful years in Kansas, where my first son was born. We eventually decided to return to Mexico, where our second child was born. We loved being close to our family and friends, but life became very hectic, and we felt the quality of time we were able to spend with our children was not what we wanted. When my husband received a new job opportunity with the same company, we decided to move back to Kansas for good.

It took us four years to get our green cards, a journey filled with stories, adventures, learning, and lots of patience! During that time, my visa did not allow me to work, so I spent much of my time volunteering and assisting teachers at my children’s school in the Shawnee Mission School District.

One of those teachers is the person who sent me to Bambini Creativi, and I am so thankful she did! 

​

Bambini has become such a special place for me. Over the years, I have grown alongside our amici, families, and team, and I truly feel that I have found my own family and community here.

​

Sharing my culture and my first language, Spanish, with our amici has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey at Bambini. I have had the opportunity to wear many hats over the years, and this year I am especially excited to continue growing and serving our community as Assistant Principal.

I look forward to supporting our team, connecting with our families, and helping make this another wonderful year of learning, growing, and working together.
